Here's How Arkansas' Credit Card Shopping Stacks Up Against Nation

Most Arkansans, like most Americans, fail to do much research when seeking credit cards, according to a report released earlier this year.

“Most Americans do not compare offers or collect information from more than one company when shopping for credit cards,” said the 2012 National Financial Capability Study, which examines Americans’ handling of money and their knowledge of financial products and use of those products. Failing to research credit card offers can mean higher interest rates and higher borrowing costs.

The FINRA Investor Education Foundation commissioned the study. FINRA is the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, the largest regulator of securities firms that conduct business in the U.S. The FINRA Foundation, based in Washington, D.C., is a nonprofit that works to educate Americans about economic and financial issues.

The 2012 study builds on findings of the first study, done in 2009. For more information, visit or
