With Sale of National, North Little Rock No Longer Bank HQ

The pending sale of National Bank of Arkansas to Fayetteville’s Arvest Bank will mark the end of an era.

NBA, which operates a network of seven locations from Sherwood to Conway, Little Rock, Maumelle and Conway, is the last financial institution standing among lenders headquartered in North Little Rock.

The bank’s upcoming exit was preceded by Twin City Bank (sold to Mercantile Bancorporation Inc. of St. Louis, in 1995), First American National Bank (purchased by Hunt & Howell Bancshares Inc. of Fayetteville in 1986) and Arkansas Federal Savings & Loan Association (converted to First American National Bank of Little Rock in 1983).

A second North Little Rock institution was reconstituted as Twin City Bank in 2000 and was collapsed into its sister institution, Centennial Bank of Conway, in 2009.
