Work Status, Employer Size Are Key in Benefits

Providing a snapshot of worker benefits in the United States, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that in March 2013, 85 percent of full-time private industry employees had employer-provided medical care. Only 24 percent of part-time workers had medical care benefits available.

The access to medical care benefits varied by employer size. Fifty-seven percent of all workers in small businesses (fewer than 100 employees) had access. That compared with 85 percent of employees in medium and large enterprises (those with 100 employees or more).

Retirement benefits and paid sick leave showed a similar pattern.
