A new name hasn't been announced, but the merger of Diamond Cos. of Memphis, which operates five truck and bus dealerships in Arkansas, with Roberts Truck Center of Amarillo, Texas, is on track for a Jan. 1 effective date.
Diamond Cos. operates Diamond International Trucks dealerships in Little Rock, Lowell, Pine Bluff and Russellville and Diamond State Bus Co. in Conway. The merger, announced Oct. 31, will create a single company with 29 locations in seven states: Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas.
On Thursday, the companies announced that Gerald "Jerry" Schaefer will direct operations in Arkansas, Missouri and Tennessee.
The combined company will be owned by Richard Sweebe, founder and CEO of Diamond Cos., and Blaine and Blair Roberts, sons of Roberts Truck Center founder Dave Roberts, who died in 2007.
