Bruce Sikes is the third chancellor since Arkansas Technical University-Ozark joined the Arkansas Tech system in 2003.
After having served as the acting chancellor since July 1, Sikes was confirmed in October by the board of trustees as the university’s new chancellor. “After a national search involving 45 candidates, [Sikes] was the unanimous selection of the search advisory committee,” wrote Robert C. Brown, president of Arkansas Tech, in a memorandum to the board.
Sikes holds a Bachelor of Science in education and a Master of Science in education from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. He started his education career as a secondary school instructor at Pleasant View School District from 1986-89 and then moved on to Waldron High School. After seven years as a secondary instructor at Waldron, he was promoted to assistant principal and then principal in 1997. As the chief academic officer at Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus for the past six years, Sikes represented program faculty on the chancellor’s leadership team and directed campus-wide assessment strategies.
