Count the Interactive Advertising Bureau, or IAB, among U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor's enthusiastic supporters. A report this week by AdAge says the digital community is aiming to keep tech-friendly Democrats in office.
The story says the IAB's political action committee gave $2,000 to the Arkansas Senator's campaign in January. Pryor is natural for the IAB's support. He chairs the Subcommittee on Communications, Technology and the Internet and sits on the Senate Commerce Committee and its Consumer Protection Subcommittee.
The IAB is also throwing support behind other Democrats, including U.S. Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va. According to AdAge:
Republicans often side with the IAB's stances on issues like sweeping privacy legislation, which the IAB has largely opposed. And they get their share of the IAB pie. But the group wants to ensure that Democrats on key committees who tend to support technology businesses stay in office.
"Having those types of Democratic members, especially on the Commerce Committee, is really important," said [Mike Zaneis, senior VP and general counsel of the IAB].
In particular, the IAB loves U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo. She's not up for re-election this time, but the IAB compares Pryor to McCaskill in terms of being "thoughful and engaged" in issues near and dear to bureau.
