KATV-TV, Channel 7, remained at the top of Nielsen Media Research’s November household ratings of Little Rock’s local news stations.
In time slots where KATV competed with other stations, its position changed only for its “Daybreak Early” program at 5 a.m. In November 2012, KTHV-TV, Channel 11, had the top rating in that spot with 3.2 and a household share of 24.6 percent.
But this year KATV took that slot back, with a rating of 4.5 and a 31.3 percent share. KTHV stayed at 3.2 and its share decreased to 23.4 percent.
“We continue to put great effort every day into Daybreak,” KATV News Director Nick Genty said in a release.
KATV remained at the top at each of its other news slots; it did not compete at the noon slot, where KTHV had a 4.8 rating and 18.5 percent share over KARK-TV, Channel 4’s 4.0 rating and 15.8 percent share.
“We’re thankful this holiday season that Arkansas viewers continue to pick Channel 7 News as their top choice,” Mark Rose, KATV’s president and general manager, said in a release. “To have another clean sweep in households and key demos in every newscast is a remarkable achievement for the KATV team, but we owe it all to the people of Arkansas.”
Michael Caplan, KTHV’s general manager, did not respond to calls seeking comment. KARK and jointly managed KLRT-TV, Channel 16, do not subscribe to Nielsen’s rating service, so their staffs cannot comment on them.
Each Nielsen household rating point represents 1 percent of 571,040 households in the market across 36 Arkansas counties. Each household share point represents 1 percent of the number of homes with TVs turned into a station at a given time.
