The residents of Saline County recently received a boost to their health care options as Saline Memorial Hospital joined with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock to open the UAMS Neurosurgery Clinic at Saline Memorial.
“UAMS has a local and national reputation for excellence, and together we will be able to offer more patients access to the latest technology and services,” said Bob Trautman, CEO of Saline Memorial.
Surgeons from the Department of Neurosurgery in the UAMS College of Medicine will see patients in the clinic next to the hospital and perform a variety of spine surgeries, including cervical fusions and disc surgeries. More complex surgeries will be performed at UAMS as needed.
Dr. J.D. Day, chairman of the UAMS Department of Neurosurgery, has been appointed to serve as the medical director for the program. “We are pleased that UAMS can join with Saline Memorial Hospital to allow residents of Saline County to receive care for spine and neurological problems close to home and give them the assurance that they have access to specialty care if needed,” Day said.
New patients are being accepted with physician referrals, and those looking for more information about the program can call (501) 574-7181.
