Ron Breeding, a familiar voice as news and program director for KUAR-FM, 89.1 radio from 2000 to 2012, was found dead at his home on Thursday, the Little Rock NPR affiliate reported Friday. He was 54.
In the article, KUAR said Pulaski County Coroner Jerome Hobbs said the death was not considered suspicious and that Breeding has a history of heart-related ailments.
A memorial service is being planned, with details to be released later.
Breeding began work at KUAR in 2000. There, he expanded the station's local news content with original reporting.
"When we interviewed Ron for the job at KUAR, we asked him, 'Why did you get interested in journalism?' And he said he liked to ask impertinent questions to important people," KUAR General Manager Ben Fry said. "There are a lot of politicians that would look out into the crowd of reporters and shiver in their shoes because they knew he would ask them that question they didn’t want to answer."
Before working at KUAR, Breeding worked for KARN-AM, 920 and the Arkansas Radio Network in Little Rock.
