Description Oversees the capacity management, design and procurement of data transport networks and connections necessary to provide data centric products, services and internal networking needs. Provides capital and contract management for equipment and third party data service providers supporting all aspects of the company?s network?s physical connectivity needs. Duties and Responsibilities ?Design, procure and manage installation of data transport network needs. Support new, migration and growth of cell sites, switch sites, IMTs, trunking requirements, data network needs, and core connectivity links supporting data network requirements-inclusive of internet access, RIM connectivity, AAA, SS7 and other similar network requirements, as well as the transport needs supporting voice application services that have data interconnectivity and transport needs. ?Design, procure and manage special projects, product development and internal capacity and transport equipment capacity requests. ?Perform least cost routing, diversity analysis, E911 design and disconnect management to provide the most reliable network at the best cost for the company. ?General account ledger and account coding of equipment and documentation of data circuits in both the capacity management tools utilized, as well as in maps detailing connections and physical routing. ?Traffic analysis to maintain appropriate equipment and data route capacity. ?Installation- Provisioning and maintenance management for existing and new data transport systems and units. ?Capacity utilization analysis and forecasting, equipment auditing and verification, and budget management and forecasting. ?Business case development. ?Documentation, inventory and maps of company owned networks, systems and units in operation. ?Vendor management of both data service and equipment providers. Minimum Requirements ?Bachelor?s degree in engineering or a related field and 5 years professional level experience; or 9 years professional level related engineering/technical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related engineering/technical experience and Bachelor?s degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science or related major. ?5+ years experience in telecommunications industry, specifically in the design, management or procurement of data networks. ?Knowledge of IP and Ethernet transport protocols, interfaces and routing protocols, as well as industry data services and data transport providers. ?Ability to describe and discuss business cases, along with NPV analysis, and cost of capital and tax impacts to managerial projects. ?Ability to demonstrate knowledge of copper and fiber optic transport systems, interfaces and cabling specifications. ?Highly motivated self-starter who can work with little or no supervision. ?Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills, and an ability to handle multiple projects and a diverse range of co-workers? personalities. ?Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. ?Proficiency in MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, web browsers, search engines, and third party web portals. ?Capacity to travel, usually less than 20% of the time. Desired Qualifications ?Previous experience with transport circuit capacity management tools. ?Knowledge of SONET, TDM transports speeds and interconnections, industry carriers and transport providers. ?Knowledge of WDM, CWDM, DWDM, CDMA, GSM, and LTE technologies.
