To treat all customer information with confidentiality; to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor; and to develop a thorough knowledge of bank products and services. QUALIFICATIONS: Cash handling experience preferred. Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills. Effective communications skills (reading, legible writing, and listening) typically gained in high school or through work experience. Light typing and/or keyboard skills. Basic math skills and reading comprehension skills. 10-key by touch. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Provide quality customer service. Follow HEARTLAND's policies, procedures, and standards. Maintain work area to reflect a neat and orderly work place. Maintain customer confidentiality. Verify and organize money drawer. Operate teller terminal and customer information screens. Rotate work schedule. Work front window and drive-through window simultaneously at times. Accommodate customers with Safe Deposit boxes--remove box from vault and carry to privacy room for customer. Process deposits-savings, checking, and IRA. Process federal tax (TT&L). Cash checks and savings withdrawals within limits and policies. Practice security procedures. Balance money drawer and report any discrepancies. Sell and redeem savings bonds. Process payments - loan, box fees. Issue cashiers checks & official checks. Collect fee income and accurately account for the same. Basic product knowledge. Work up night depository bank and mail deposits. Open and sort mail. Answer telephones. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor. PRINCIPAL CONTACTS: Customers PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: Job Environment: work station located in lobby of the branch, must be able to concentrate with distractions. Equipment Used: adding machine/calculator, typewriter/ keyboard, computer terminal and printer, telephone, fax, copier. Physical Criteria: sitting and standing for extended periods of time, bending, occasional lifting 5-25 lbs., must be able to walk back and forth for a distance of 15 feet to 20 feet behind the teller line, must be able to adequately hear and verbally communicate with customers, both face-to-face and over the telephone.
