Division Chair – Division of Business and Economics Philander Smith College ________________________________________ Philander Smith College invites applications and nominations for a visionary, entrepreneurial and innovative leader, teacher, and scholar to serve as Division Chair of the Division of Business and Economics. The Division Chair reports directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and will be responsible for fostering an environment conducive for quality teaching and learning and effective scholarship and outreach. Academic credentials should be commensurate with appointment. Minimal Qualifications: • Earned doctorate in an appropriate disciple found in the Division from an accredited institution • Effective leadership and team building experience • Demonstrable experience in maintenance of AACSB accreditation Preferred Qualifications: • Innovative and entrepreneurial experience • Curriculum development and assessment experience • Experience with student retention programs and outreach Division Chair Job Responsibilities: • Promotes the mission of the College to all faculty, staff, and students and to the community at large • Cultivates civic engagement and community partnership and provides a rich environment for teaching, learning, scholarship, service and outreach • Ensures compliance and maintenance of AACSB accreditation • Oversees degree plan preparation and qualification for graduation • Schedules and conducts Division meetings with established agenda • Directs program directors and faculty in the process of curriculum development and course schedules • Oversees the development, assessment and revision of academic programs and curriculum • Supervises the development, implementation, evaluation, and preparation of annual reports for the Strategic Plan • Supervises faculty and staff in the Division • Monitors program enrollment, class size, and grade distribution • Ensures effective student advising Division Chair – Division of Business and Economics Philander Smith College ________________________________________ Division Chair Job Responsibilities (continued): • Expands faculty awareness and application of current technology in all aspects of the business profession • Facilitates program development, operation and evaluation • Promotes excellence in faculty teaching, service, professional growth and development and academic scholarship • Provides leadership in recruitment and development of quality faculty and adjunct faculty dedicated to teaching, service, research and scholarship in the Division • Represents the Division and its programs through the building of external partnerships within the greater Little Rock community • Establishes and maintains relationship with business and community leaders • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned by the VP for Academic Affairs How to Apply: Review of applications will begin immediately and the position will remain open until filled.
