FAYETTEVILLE -- Freshman forward Brandon Moore plans to leave the University of Arkansas and the men's basketball team, UA coach John Pelphrey announced on Wednesday.
Sources indicate that Moore, a 6-foot-9, 215-pound forward is considering transferring either to TCU or Florida International, which last week hired Isaiah Thomas as its new head coach.
"We appreciate all of Brandon's efforts and contributions to the Razorback program," Pelphrey said in a press release issued by the UA media relations office. "We wish him nothing but the best."
Moore played in 25 games this year, all off the bench. He played just more than nine minutes a game, and averaged 1.9 points and 1.6 rebounds. He had highs of nine points against Florida A&M and seven rebounds against Northwestern State.
Moore's family was displaced by Hurricane Katrina during his sophomore year in high school, so he spent that season at Episcopal Collegiate School in Little Rock. He returned to New Orleans for his junior and senior years.
The news of Moore's transfers comes at the same time that recruiting sites are announcing the Razorbacks' latest signee, 6-8 forward Glenn Bryant from Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va. Bryant, a native of Detroit, was also considering South Florida and Alabama-Birmingham. He led Oak Hill in blocked shots with 216 this season.
Returning Hog post player Michael Washington, who would be a senior next year, is testing the NBA waters but has not hired an agent.
