The two 7A conferences come down to the last week of the season.
Russellville, North Little Rock and Cabot all have a chance to share 7A-Central, but for Russellville and Cabot it boils down to their head-to-head matchup in Russellville on Thursday. North Little Rock, no matter what happens in Russellville, can take care of its own business for a share and should win at Van Buren on Friday. If NLR and Cabot tie for the top, Cabot gets the league's top seed in the playoffs. If NLR and Russellville are tied, NLR wins out with its early season win over the Crimson Cyclones.
In the West, Springdale Har-Ber and Bentonville have their long awaited showdown on Friday with the winner finishing atop the regular season Power Poll while getting the top seed from the conference. El Dorado and West Memphis are beginning to pummel folks in 6A and appear headed for a playoff final matchup. Monticello and Greenwood are the class of 5A. Shiloh Christian and Nashville are dominant in 4A, but Nashville's league foes Ashdown and De Queen also could figure.
High School Power Poll
1. Springdale Har-Ber (9-0). It's put-up or shut-up time in 7A-West. Bentonville awaits.
2. Bentonville (8-1). The loss to Southside will be an afterthought if Tigers take Har-Ber this week.
3. El Dorado (9-0). No longer just scraping by, the Wildcats are burying folks.
4. West Memphis (9-0). On top of their game, Blue Devils should go deep in 6A playoffs.
5. Russellville (7-1-1). Take care of business at home and a conference tie will be in hand. But Thursday's game is against a seething group of Cabot Panthers.
