FAYETTEVILLE — Ryan Mallett downplayed his records, but they mean a lot to his coach.
Mallett broke Arkansas' single-season passing record in the Razorbacks' 56-20 win over Troy Saturday night. He also set a school record for consecutive passes without an interception.
Although Mallett was quick to dismiss his stats, coach Bobby Petrino will file them away.
"What we'll do is look at the records when the year's over with," Petrino said. "It's great for the individual, and it's good for recruiting."
Mallett threw for 405 yards, bringing his season total to 2,882. He surpassed Clint Stoerner's mark of 2,629 in the second quarter.
He extended his streak to 141 passes without an interception before being picked off near the end of the second quarter. Stoerner held the previous mark in that category too with 134.
Mallett threw five touchdown passes, all to different receivers.
Throughout the season, Mallett has deflected talk of his impressive numbers, and this night was no different.
"We got the win," Mallett said. "I'm always going to tell you that we got the win and that's the most important thing. We're bowl eligible and we're ready to go bowling."
