Arkansas basketball coach John Pelphrey surfaced Thursday just long enough to chat with ESPN.com's Andy Katz. Pelphrey talked with Katz about reports three of his players were involved in an on-campus incident that eventually led to allegations of rape.
No charges were filed in the incident, but the details have made national headlines.
Pelphrey has made no statement to local media. He didn't show up to play in an LPGA foursome that he auctioned off this summer to raise money for his Pel's Pals charity.
Word was sent to other members of the golfing group that Pelphrey was on the road recruiting Wednesday and needed Thursday to tend to team issues. That's understandable, but if he was too busy to play and too busy to talk with local media, he should have been too busy for Katz.
And without further ado, here are portion of Pelphrey's comments to Katz...
"We'd all like to live in a world where we don't have to deal with this, but as a coach you'll probably have to deal with something like this," Pelphrey said. "We'd love to have smooth sailing but when something comes our way we deal with it. We have enough checks and balances in place to handle it."
Probably going to have to "deal with something like this"? Let us know where else the following laundry list is happening within less than 400 days:
