In Case You Missed It: Dyer Says 'Auburn'
Posted at 3:58:49 PM by Jim Harris

We have just had our fill with these fall "commitment" announcements, when the word commitment hardly means anything to these high school superstars anymore.

In the case of Michael Dyer, the Little Rock Christian Academy running back and holder of the state record for career rushing yardage, he had a big show Friday morning to announce that Auburn is his choice for college. Yet, watch Dyer make recruiting visits and entertain coaches from other schools in the run-up to signing day the first Wednesday in February. Then he'll probably do the hat thing with all those different ball caps in front of him before pulling out the school that ultimate lands his signature on a national letter of intent.

And that's fine. A kid only gets this chance once in his life when he feels like he's king of the world. Then he shows up on a big-time college campus with two dozen other 18-year-old guys who thought they were king of the world their senior year in high school too, and the older guys on the team start knocking the hell out of them on the practice field.

Here's some national coverage on Dyer.

And more here from ESPN.

You can catch more of Dyer in action tonight on ESPNU when the Little Rock Christian football game with Pulaski Academy is shown to a national audience. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Don't worry about attending in person if you haven't already left for the game when you're reading this; the stadium is way too tiny for the crowd they're likely to have tonight.

Oh, sadly it's probably Dyer's last game as a Arkansas high schooler, unless a miracle happens and the Warriors beat PA and somehow Camden Fairview takes down Pulaski Robinson just up the road on Highway 10. The latter is more likely to occur than the former, but the point is, the Warriors need some help to extend theirs and Dyer's season.

Broderick Green, Knile Davis, Ronnie Wingo, Dennis Johnson Probably had a little influence on his decision. Good-bye and good riddance. If you don't want to be a Razorback I don't want you to be a Razorback !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He evidently wasn't raised to be a Razorback fan. How could you watch the SC game and being from this state not want to be a part of what's going on up on the hill. He doesn't have a clue about being a Razorback fan!!!!!!!!!

I work and live in West little Rock and have seen Dyer and his friends all over the place. The kid is trouble, nothing but a premadonna with a bad attitude that we don't need. Move on.

I've seen that before Tusk. It's a shame too. Adults heaping praise on a kid that's 17 yrs old and telling him how great he is. They fear disciplining them in fear they won't remember them in case they get rich.

It's guys like you who need kicked square in the butt. Good riddance, he has a bad attitude, that crap is garbage. A good coach will help mentor, discipline and guide him, and help turn him into better person. Michael Dyer is a freaking stud, and I wish the best for him, ...

It may be garbage to you but it makes perfect sense to me. Why would I wish anyone success when they are my competition. And if he doesn't want to be a Razorback, good-bye and good riddance. BP could have done all of those things for him but I don't think he ever seriously c...

Just because a kid doesn't commit to the Hogs means he has a bad attitude or is a bad person. Arkansas never really recruited Dyer because there is no room for him to play there. The running back poistion at Arkansas is stacked. Johnson, D-Curtis, Green and Wingo. So where i...

Good luck to Michael Dyer except against the Hogs. Auburn senior Ben Tate has nearly three times the carries (225) as *either* of UA's top runners (Green 76; Smith 71). Competition for a starting slot aside, maybe the kid figures AU's No. 1 back is going to get double the ...

I hope Dyer bombs at AU. The depth chart will work itself out. Dyer now goes up against Seastrunk, the #1 rated back in the country. If he had a good reason he didn't want to be a Hog I'd understand not going to Ar. And BP did recruit Dyer hard. Anybody that wants to ...

Naw I'm with Sui on this one! I wish him well unless it's against the Hawgs! He will have a better career at Auburn with the way they run the ball with two backs, we have 5! We can't have it both ways now, HDN would not pass, so do we now want all of the runningbacks so w...

Petrino's offense is balanced. If Dyer is as good as everybody says he is the depth chart will work itself out and he would get plenty of carries. If he doesn't want to be a Razorback I want him to fail and fail miserably.
