Here's a little something to bring Arkansas fans back to reality in the wake of the spring practice high:
College football guru
Phil Steele has ranked the Razorbacks with the second-toughest schedule in the country this year. Only Washington has a tougher schedule, according to Steele, who is usually spot-on about this sort of thing.
Arkansas certainly looked good in the spring as Casey Dick threw for 404 yards in the Red-White game and offensive players like wide receiver London Crawford made highlight-reel catches. All that depth at tight end and defensive end was impressive too, but that was in practice and controlled situations.
Can Arkansas players replicate their success against a schedule that will include games at Texas and Auburn and home games with Alabama and Florida?
Coach Bobby Petrino is well aware of the challenges ahead in his first season.
During his spring practice wrap-up press conference Petrino recalled having a schedule waiting at his seat on Razorback Club stops. He was reminded at nearly every stop what a tough task was ahead.
"I felt like they didn't want me to get a lot of sleep," Petrino said, laughing. "When you have Texas, Alabama, Florida, Auburn, all four in a row; That's a good schedule right there."
Interestingly, Arkansas' strength of schedule ranks No. 2, despite Nov. 1 opponent Tulsa ranking No. 120, dead last among FBS schools.
