Jermain Taylor’s comeback road next winds through Biloxi, Miss., where he headlines a Showtime-televised main event Friday night. At 10 p.m., Taylor (29-4-1, 18 KOs) fights Caleb Truax (18-0-1, 10 KOs). While Truax hasn’t lost a match as a pro, he also hasn’t met an opponent of this caliber before. This is one reason Taylor appears so confident in excerpts from a Friday interview with KABZ-FM 103.7 The Buzz. Another reason: Taylor has gotten into top-notch shape, and says he runs a mile in less than six minutes. So, yes, it appears Taylor is once again lean. And, based on the comments below, he’s also mean. But it remains to be seen how much of a fighting machine this 33-year-old still is.

LSU has faced Arkansas at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock every other year since 1992, but the game is moving to Fayetteville in 2012. Coach Bobby Petrino and the UA athletic department decided to move the game to Fayetteville to avoid what would have been three consecutive games away from campus. Petrino, who made a Friday morning appearance in “The Zone” on 103.7 The Buzz to discuss a variety of topics, offered his thoughts on the move in an exchange with host Justin Acri.

Last night, Arkansans got more of the story on KATV-TV, Channel 7, which aired a lengthly interview with the Outlaw, his wife and others about his alcoholism and what looks to be a slow, steady recovery. Kickoff Classic Continues Tonight at War Memorial Stadium

The Arkansas High School Kickoff Classic continues tonight at War Memorial Stadium. Competing teams are Little Rock Parkview vs. Little Rock Mills at 5 p.m. and Cabot vs. Jacksonville at 7:30 p.m. Admission to both games is $7.
