AFCU was originally included in the group of banks that bid to lend money to the Little Rock Tech Park. The Arkansas Bankers Association talked the banks into tossing AFCU out of the club — but not until after the bid deadline had passed, so AFCU couldn’t make its own competing bid.

The misinformation employed by the Arkansas Bankers Association to exclude Arkansas Federal Credit Union from the bidding process for the Little Rock Technology Park community development project is reprehensible. The ABA put politics above the potential jobs and economic growth of the community, which speaks volumes about its self-serving agenda.

According to data from the FBI, there were only 28 bank robberies in Arkansas in both 2010 and 2011, the lowest level in a decade. That number is down from a high of 58 in 2007.
