Arkansas restaurants with eco-friendly philosophies used to be on their own. Although the locally grown, organic food and biodegradable containers saved the environment, they cost the businesses more than ordinary fare and eco-enemies like Styrofoam. To operate sustainably — both business- and environment-wise — a group of 10 restaurants and businesses joined together in 2008 to form the Arkansas Green Restaurant Alliance.
