New Neurosurgeons Fill Roles at Arkansas Neuroscience Institute (Movers & Shakers)

Dr. Stephen F. Shafizadeh has joined the Arkansas Neuroscience Institute team at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock. Shafizadeh earned a medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and completed his neurosurgical residency at Northwestern University. Dr. Tarek Abuelem has joined ANI after earning neurosurgical residencies at Baylor College of Medicine and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and completing a fellowship at ANI.

St. Vincent CEO Dinner Benefits Arkansas Neuroscience Institute

More than 100 guests attended St. Vincent Infirmary’s CEO Dinner at the Clinton Presidential Center’s Great Hall. The annual dinner recognizes donors to the CEO’s Club, a giving society that benefits different SVI projects each year. This year’s beneficiary is the Arkansas Neuroscience Institute, which in only nine months, has added more than 400 complex surgeries and 1,000 diagnostic studies to SVI.

A Nigeria native with a Lebanese background, Dr. Ali Krisht made his way to Arkansas to pursue his passion of neuroscience. After receiving his neurosurgical training from Emory University in Atlanta 16 years ago, Krisht began working at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Recently he transitioned to St. Vincent to establish the Arkansas Neuroscience Institute.
