by Chris Bahn 6/4/2012 10:25 am

Arkansas has secured its spot in an NCAA Super Regional. There could be further reason to celebrate tonight. If Dallas Baptist wins the Waco Regional with a victory against Baylor tonight, then the Razorbacks will likely host the Super Regional. Arkansas (42-19) will travel to Waco if Baylor, a national seed wins.

Bahn: Razorbacks Lose Series To South Carolina, Maintain Hope For Late Push

by Chris Bahn 5/7/2012 7:45 am

Beating South Carolina on Sunday and earning a series victory against the two-time defending national champs was going to be proof Arkansas was back. Had the Razorbacks defeated the Gamecocks it would have been two consecutive weeks of series victories against Top 5 opponents. Instead, Arkansas lost 10-7 on Sunday at Baum Stadium and dropped the series to fall further behind the SEC’s elite. Rather than adding to the their resume on paper, the Razorbacks added to the loss column. And Dave Van Horn still came away happy with his team.

Bahn: Baxendale's Poise, Willingness To Work Have Been Key In His Success For Razorbacks

by Chris Bahn 2/17/2012 10:30 am

Coaches have learned DJ Baxendale doesn’t want to be told constantly how great he is. He is too much of a competitor for that. Instead, the Razorbacks’ junior All-SEC pitcher legitimately wants instruction on how he can get better. This about a guy that was 10-2 last season with a 1.58 earned run average? We’re talking about a Golden Spikes semifinalist in 2011 and a preseason All-American here.

Arkansas To Appear On TV At Least 16 Times This Baseball Season

by Chris Bahn 2/8/2012 1:12 pm

Arkansas baseball will get plenty of TV time this season. A total of 16 games will televised as part of the SEC's expanded broadcast package, including eight dates that have yet to be finalized. ESPN networks will carry five games featuring the Razorbacks, who open the season as high as No. 4 in some polls.

Bahn: For Good Measure Of Where Razorback Baseball Stands Nationally, Look At Right Field Fence

by Chris Bahn 1/27/2012 3:40 pm

Scan the various preseason baseball rankings and you’ll see Arkansas ranked among the nation’s Top 10 teams. But if you really want a sense of where Dave Van Horn has his program, check out the most recent construction project at Baum Stadium. Crews have been working to bring the right-field fence in 10 feet, meaning the ball will have to travel 365-plus feet to get out of the park instead of 375. What does this have to do with the Razorbacks’ standing nationally? How is this a better measure of progress than rankings?

by Chris Bahn 10/18/2011 1:28 pm

Arkansas unveiled a long-term vision for athletic facilities on Tuesday. The projects — expected to impact all sports — could take up to 30 years to complete at an initial estimate of $320 million. Major projects include the addition of club seating in the north end zone of Razorback Stadium, a basketball practice facility and upgrades to all existing athletic facilities.

Arkansas Set To Unveil Facilities Master Plan, Some Ideas Of What Might Be Included

by Chris Bahn 10/17/2011 6:30 pm

An official groundbreaking for the Arkansas football operations center will be held next month. Fundraising is nearing completion for that project. And that’s just the beginning for what the athletic department has planned. Tuesday Athletic Director Jeff Long will unveil an official “Master Plan” for facilities that figures to take years (decades?) and millions of dollars to complete. What could we see on Tuesday? Here are a few informed guesses (based on conversations with Long, athletic department employees, donors and others over the last few years):

Jim's Notebook: SEC Baseball Dominance Should Have Helped Hogs in Seeding; McIlroy Moves the Masses

by Jim Harris 6/20/2011 2:40 pm

Three Southeastern Conference baseball teams, each of whom had regional and super-regional home series, moved on to the second round of the College World Series winners bracket over the weekend. But, while the NCAA managed to give such leagues as the Atlantic Coast Conference five home sites, the SEC was awarded just those three to the 1-2-3 teams of the SEC East. Arkansas, which managed to finish atop a balanced six-team division, was even sent to Arizona State, which was appealing NCAA sanctions that should have kept the Sun Devils out of the tournament altogether. What's going on here?

Van Horn Looking Ahead To 2012, Hasn't Yet Reflected On Razorbacks' 2011

by Kurt Voigt, The Associated Press 6/10/2011 9:25 am

Dave Van Horn hasn't had time to reflect on the season that was quite yet, but that hasn't stopped the Arkansas baseball coach from looking ahead to what will be. The Razorbacks' season ended with a loss in the NCAA regional at Arizona State on Sunday. While the ending wasn't quite what Arkansas had hoped for, a 40-22 record marked the third straight year the program has reached at least 40 wins.

NCAA Does Not Select Arkansas, Baum Stadium As Regional Host

by Chris Bahn 5/29/2011 2:57 pm

Arkansas is not hosting a NCAA Regional. The Razorbacks (38-20) were not one of 16 host sites. Arkansas was 2-2 in the Southeastern Conference Tournament and just .500 in league play, but won the SEC West and had a Top 15 RPI.

For those of us who caught Saturday's Arkansas Razorback baseball game with Mississippi State at Baum Stadium, we saw a rarity: a routine Hog win with no late-inning dramatics.

Bahn: Let's Hope One Baum Stadium Overreaction Doesn't Lead to Another

by Chris Bahn 4/18/2011 10:00 am

Hanging out in Baum Stadium’s Hog Pen is one of the uniquely Fayetteville ways to spend a spring night in Northwest Arkansas. It doesn’t get a lot better for fans than spending time in the Hog Pen, an area that could easily be dubbed Hog Heaven. Hopefully it stays that way after a couple of public incidents involving hecklers and opposing players.

Bahn: Razorbacks Show Real Fight In Finishing Off Series Sweep Against Tigers

by Chris Bahn 4/10/2011 7:50 pm
