According to data from the FBI, there were only 28 bank robberies in Arkansas in both 2010 and 2011, the lowest level in a decade. That number is down from a high of 58 in 2007.

Southeastern moves have taken two of the largest banks in Arkansas to new heights. Largely fueled by FDIC-assisted transactions, Conway’s Centennial Bank and Little Rock’s Bank of the Ozarks have carved out sizable expansions in Florida and Georgia.

Centennial Bank, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Home BancShares Inc. of Conway, said Friday that it has acquired all the deposits and substantially all the assets of Heritage Bank of Florida.
