State Auditor Charlie Daniels, who has held elected office in Arkansas since 1985, says he will not seek re-election. Daniels, a Democrat from Bryant, was elected auditor in 2010 and is serving in his first term. He is eligible for a second four-year term, but the 73-year-old says he is ready to retire.
Gov. Mike Beebe received more than $17,000 worth of airfare, lodging and other expenses for trips he went on last year, with most for a pair of economic development missions overseas, according to a financial interest report he filed Thursday.
