Arkansas Athletic Director Jeff Long last spoke publicly about his search for a new football coach the day before the Razorbacks’ 52-0 loss to Alabama. He said then that he still considered John L. Smith as a candidate for the job. Much seems to have changed since then, including the Razorbacks dropping to 1-3, Smith making series of public speaking gaffes and the revelation of just how much financial trouble the interim coach is facing. Smith is surely ruled out at this point. So who is factoring into the search now?

The question has been asked this week by the folks who haven't been paying attention to UALR: Why does a 14th seed host an NCAA women's subregional? The simple answer is, UALR bid for it. And thanks to a successful operation of an NCAA men's first- and second-round subregional at Verizon Arena in 2008, the NCAA felt confident the UALR would be able to handle the women's side this spring at Jack Stephens Center on campus.

Chris Wallace, general manager of the Memphis Grizzlies, visited the Downtown Tip Off Club in North Little Rock on Tuesday with a message from the Grizzlies that we haven't heard in a few years: "Hey, Little Rock and surrounding area, we need you and want you. Come on over."
