Insurance Claims Increasingly Fought in Court

U.S. District Court records show that in the Arkansas federal courts in 2011 there were 93 lawsuits related to insurance claims. In 2012, the number rose to 99. And through Oct. 31, 77 lawsuits involving insurance claims have been filed.

Understandably, Central Arkansas Christian Coach Tommy Shoemaker is hoping for a low-scoring game when his Mustangs open the season on Monday against Pulaski Academy. "Low scoring and controlling the ball," he said. His Mustangs last year were one of 14 Pulaski Academy opponents who couldn't keep up when a football game broke out into a track meet, and Shoemaker knows a wide-open game favors talented Pulaski Academy again this year in the Arkansas High School Kickoff Classic.

The top players in Arkansas high school and college football will be honored Thursday night by the Little Rock Touchdown Club at its annual banquet. Brandon Allen will pick up his second award in two nights after being named the Landers Award winner on Wednesday night.
