Arkansas Business reviewed the Administrator’s Compensation Survey reports filed with the state Department of Higher Education for the 2010 and 2014 fiscal years. In the four-year period, the number of six-figure employees included in the report increased from 460 to 703.

A-State, NYIT Prepare for October Summit on Proposed Medical School

Officials with the proposed New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine on the Arkansas State University campus in Jonesboro have set a graduate medical education summit for October. The GME Summit, scheduled Oct. 16, will bring together state and national healthcare leaders, hospital executives and practicing physicians.

Knowing where Gus Malzahn was a year ago, ASU Athletic Director Dean Lee was still a little stunned that ASU had just landed him as its 28th head coach. Lee’s reaction post-Malzahn press conference was no different than most of the college football following public. Everybody was trying to make sense of how Malzahn wound up at Arkansas State, a school that won the Sun Belt title outright for the first time since joining the league. Could Lee have imagined hiring Malzahn was possible a year ago or, heck, even a week ago?
