On the homefront, former Fayetteville mayor Dan Coody and his wife Deborah are still doing big things. Over time, they acquired 45 acres of land on Mount Sequoyah and subdivided a portion in 1996 to create Fayetteville’s first low-impact, environmentally sensitive neighborhood, which took into consideration slope, trees, utility placement, runoff and more.

Three Arkansas mayors have pledged their cities to the fight to lower greenhouse gas emissions: Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola, North Little Rock Mayor Patrick H. Hays and Fayetteville Mayor Dan Coody. These city leaders have signed the U.S. Conference of Mayors Climate Protection Agreement in support of the fight against global warming.
