Devonta Abron To Transfer, Razorbacks Announce Roster Addition From Houston

Forward Devonta Abron has been granted his release from from Arkansas. Abron, who averaged 5.7 points and 4.2 rebounds in 32 games last season, is reportedly working to get closer to home. Abron, a 6-foot-8, 255-pound freshman, started 22 games for the Razorbacks.

Anderson Sees 'Toughness' As An Area Where Razorbacks Need To Improve In Offseason

Why Arkansas Won: Home court continues to be a huge advantage for Arkansas, which improved to 17-0 at Bud Walton Arena. Not that anybody is comparing the squads, but this year’s Razorback squad bested the school record for home victories set by the 1993-94 national title team. Beyond simply playing at home Arkansas was able to turn 21 South Carolina turnovers into 25 points. Finally the team got big performances from its big men, who helped the Razorbacks to a 32-30 rebounding advantage. Frontcourt play also helped build a lead that grew as large as 23 points. South Carolina mounted a 16-0 run late to cut Arkansas’ lead to 68-61. That was as close as the Gamecocks would get as the Razorbacks ended a two-game losing skid.

Razorback Forward Michael Sanchez Doubtful For South Carolina

Arkansas forward Michael Sanchez is doubtful for Saturday’s game against South Carolina. Sanchez, a 6-8 senior, is rehabbing a sprained shoulder. He injured it during the Razorbacks' loss to Georgia on Wednesday.

Arkansas' Julysses Nobles forced Michigan's Trey Burke to shoot a difficult three-point shot that rimmed out as the clock hit 0:00 and the Razorbacks (13-5, 2-2) survived with a two-point victory at Bud Walton Arena. The Razorbacks started the game looking unbeatable, connecting on their first 11 field goal attempts and building a lead that reached 20 points in the first half, but only went 13 of 37 the rest of the way. Michigan (15-4, 5-2) worked its way back into the game and cut the lead to two points three times in the last four minutes, but never led.

Razorbacks Remain Unbeaten At Bud Walton Arena, Knock Off LSU

Arkansas found the shooting touch it needed in the second half to remain perfect at home. BJ Young scored 19 points off the bench to lift the Razorbacks to a 69-60 win over LSU Saturday night. The win improves Arkansas (13-4, 2-1 Southeastern Conference) to 13-0 at home in Bud Walton Arena this season.

We knew earlier in the week that the crowd greeting new UA head basketball coach Mike Anderson would be overflowing the Wyndham Riverfront ballroom. The Hogs’ 91-68 win over Oakland on Wednesday night seemed to add even more buzz among the packed room Thursday when Anderson spoke at the first meeting of the season of the Downtown Tip Off Club in North Little Rock. Anderson’s Hogs, 2-0 on the season, play at Verizon Arena on Friday night against Houston, coached by Arkansas native James Dickey. Anderson told the Tip Off Club that he’s “got a lot of great memories, and I want to make more memories.”

The smell of a fresh coat of paint hung throughout Bud Walton Arena on Wednesday. The sprucing up was part of an offseason of work inside Arkansas' basketball home, though it's only a small part of the "remodeling" coach Mike Anderson faces in his first year. Anderson left Missouri in March to return to where he helped lead the Razorbacks to the 1994 national championship as an assistant coach under Nolan Richardson. His arrival was a homecoming of sorts, and it was treated as such — with an estimated 5,000 Arkansas fans greeting Anderson during his introduction as former coach John Pelphrey's replacement.
