Red Wolves Foundation Of Arkansas State Names Carter Ford Executive Director

Arkansas State University’s athletic department has a new name and new leader for its fundraising arm. Carter Ford has been named executive director of the Red Wolf Foundation. Formerly the organization was named the Red Wolf Club.

Arkansas State Coach Gus Malzahn made 15 stops in 14 different towns and covered approximately 1,100 miles working to promote the Red Wolves earlier this week. ArkansasSports360.com was with Malzahn for the final day of the trip, which included stops in Bryant, Pine Bluff, El Dorado, Fordyce and Hot Springs. There were few signs of fatigue for the coach throughout Thursday’s final day of the trip.

Along with the announcement Wednesday that Arkansas would be competing in this season’s Las Vegas Invitational over the Thanksgiving holiday, the Razorbacks will have plenty of nonconference opposition that could help the Ratings Percentage Index, no matter the game’s result. Meanwhile, more than 250 Arkansas State fans glimpsed the turf at War Memorial Stadium on Wednesday in a way like it had never been seen before.

Season ticket sales have improved modestly the last four years at Arkansas State. Entering last year — and coming off a four-victory 2010 — the number of ticket holders jumped. So you can imagine the optimism administrators at ASU must have as they begin making their sales push for 2012. Gus Malzahn has taken over the program, which hit the 10-victory plateau and won the Sun Belt Conference title.
