An accreditation commission has rejected an application by the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine to open a site at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. Organizers say they will apply again early next year.

Groundwork has already started on the Arkansas Colleges of Health Education in Fort Smith, which will include a 100,000-SF main building and several other buildings with an expected price tag of approximately $32 million. Arkansas State University at Jonesboro is building a College of Osteopathic Medicine with its partner, the New York Institute of Technology.

Another Osteopathic Medical School for Arkansas Under Consideration

The Fort Smith Regional Healthcare Foundation has been added to the list of organizations that want to open an osteopathic medical school in Arkansas. Arkansas State University at Jonesboro also has announced its intention of opening a school.
