Despite just 12 league victories between them and a combined 24-36 record over the regular season, neither of Arkansas State's basketball programs — men or women — could be disappointed with the support in red and black in the stands Saturday. It probably helped the women's team that the men also were scheduled to open Sun Belt Conference Tournament play Saturday, on the same Hot Springs Convention Center Court. So Red Wolves fans were able to catch two, and thanks to the performance of the men's team, they have yet another day to enjoy tournament play.

If the Hot Springs organizers could have their way, Arkansas State's and UALR's men's basketball teams would be in opposite sides of the Sun Belt Tournament bracket, all the way to the championship game on March 8. Usually, they find themselves playing early, like last year's terrific tussle that wasn't decided until the final minutes.

Goodwill Industries of Arkansas will collect donations of gently used clothing and household goods at the FLW Outdoors Expo from 5 p.m.-9 p.m. Friday (May 28) and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday (May 29) at the Hot Springs Convention Center. Admission is free.
