by Chris Bahn 3/15/2012 2:46 pm

Austin Flynn hasn’t been on the Arkansas campus long, but has already made an impression. Flynn, who enrolled at midterm, has put up impressive numbers in the weight room. He’s already established himself as one of the most popular Razorbacks among teammates. The defensive end’s shoulder-length hair and four-month old beard haven’t gone unnoticed, either. It is a look that stands out among Arkansas players for as long as Flynn is allowed to keep it.

Jim Harris: Razorbacks Have Too Many Questions To Be In 2012 Title Talk Now

by Jim Harris 2/15/2012 10:03 pm

The last time Beano Cook thought this highly of the Arkansas Razorback football program — proclaiming the Hogs likely to play for a national championship — he was 43 years younger, and Arkansas was returning most of the team that throttled a Southeastern Conference powerhouse in a New Year's Day bowl game. Then, as now, Cook cited one major factor in Arkansas' favor: the upcoming schedule. But while the schedule may favor Arkansas for a national title run, the question will be whether the players are in place in key spots.

Razorbacks' Childs, Red Wolves' McCray Among Official NFL Combine Invitee List

by Chris Bahn 2/7/2012 10:27 am

Injury seemed to slow Arkansas wide receiver Greg Childs throughout 2011. He was never really able to show his skill set off in a disappointing senior season. Childs will still get a shot to impress NFL scouts thanks to being included in the official NFL Combine. Players report to Indianapolis Feb. 22-28 and Childs is on the list along with five other players with ties to the state of Arkansas.

He had no touchdowns, but led all players in the all-star game with total receptions, yards and an average of 16.6 yards per catch in being named the South most valuable player.

Arkansas State linebacker Demario Davis was a late addition to the Senior Bowl roster. He’s wasted no time proving he belonged on the first day of practice. Davis, a two-time all-Sun Belt Conference player, earned nice reviews. He showed speed and power during drills and recovered a fumbled punt during special teams work.

Jim Harris: Bequette, Arkansas Deliver On Defense To Stifle Kansas State, Win Cotton Bowl

by Jim Harris 1/7/2012 9:55 am

Arkansas’ new defensive coordinator, Paul Haynes, can count on a long honeymoon with Razorback fans — at least through next September — thanks to the way the Hogs' defense handled Kansas State in a 29-16 win in the AT&T Cotton Bowl Friday night at Cowboys Stadium. Arkansas took care of its biggest concern — dealing with hard-running KSU quarterback Collin Klein — by holding Klein to 42 yards rushing on 24 carries, a 1.8 yards-per-carry average. Klein had 29 yards in losses on six sacks. The Hogs held KSU to 87 yards rushing on 40 attempts and 260 total yards.

Two-Minute Drill: Arkansas 29, Kansas State 16

by Chris Bahn 1/7/2012 9:43 am

Arkansas used big plays on special teams, depth of playmakers on offense and arguably its best defensive performance of the season to secure only the third 11-win season in school history in beating Kansas State in the 76th Cotton Bowl. Defense and special teams bailed the team out early when the offense couldn’t move, staking the Razorbacks to a 10-0 lead before they recorded a first down. New defensive coordinator Paul Haynes seemed to make a difference as Arkansas allowed just 87 yards rushing. The Razorbacks finished with 345 yards of total offense, primarily on the strength of 216 yards passing from Tyler Wilson.

by Jim Harris 1/6/2012 2:00 pm

Arkansas should win the AT&T Cotton Bowl. But several Razorbacks who haven't shown up in key games of late need to bring their 'A' games Friday night at Cowboys Stadium or the Hogs' bowl woes of the past quarter-century will continue against a well-coached, disciplined Kansas State football team.

Bahn: Top 10 Cotton Bowl Matchup Not Distracting Petrino From Hogs' Real Goal

by Chris Bahn 1/6/2012 2:00 am

Getting the Arkansas football program where Bobby Petrino wants it isn’t about beating Kansas State. No disrespect intended there, but LSU and Alabama are clearly on Petrino’s mind. He mentioned the importance of getting to Atlanta for the SEC title game during his final Cotton Bowl media appearance.
