Of all Arkansas’ SEC players, who do you most trust protecting you? Which running back has the best chance of moving the chains? Who’s going to make the catch, then have the highest chance of breaking free? Our choices for the best Arkansas offensive players of the first 20 years in the SEC came from gut answers to questions like these ...

by Chris Bahn 8/22/2012 12:00 am

Arkansas has been tested more than usual by the defense during fall camp. There are a variety of explanations for why this has happened, including the defense retooling its coaching staff and the overall talent level continuing to improve on that side of the ball. Quarterback Tyler Wilson sees another reason for the change as well.

Bahn: Minnesota Vikings' Wright, Childs Just The Latest Receiver Greats From Warren

by Chris Bahn 5/1/2012 1:45 pm

Don’t bother looking for a Wal-Mart in the south Arkansas town of Warren. To find one of those you have to drive 20 or so miles east to Monticello. Same thing with a local movie theater. Warren doesn’t have one of those either. Know what the South Arkansas town of 6,000 does have? A history of producing great college wide receivers and two of the top 150 draft picks in the recent NFL Draft. Former Arkansas Razorbacks and Warren teammates Jarius Wright and Greg Childs were fourth-round picks by the Minnesota Vikings, further establishing Warren’s tradition as a hotbed for wide receiver talent in Arkansas.

Ryan Mallett Sees NFL Success Ahead For Recently Drafted Razorback Receivers

by Chris Bahn 5/1/2012 10:25 am

New England Patriots quarterback Ryan Mallett spent three years throwing to Joe Adams, Jarius Wright and Greg Childs. Mallett was their college quarterback in 2009 and 2010. He redshirted in 2008, but still had the opportunity to be around the trio, all of whom were drafted in the fourth round of this year’s draft. Having that sort of knowledge of Adams, Wright and Childs, plus a year in the NFL, Mallett told ArkansasSports360.com he believes the three can be successful at the next level.

Jim Harris: Razorbacks QB Tyler Wilson Now Can Focus On Another Passion — Golf

by Jim Harris 4/25/2012 3:00 pm

With the Arkansas head coaching problem solved for the 2012 season by the hiring of John L. Smith, a decision senior quarterback Tyler Wilson wholeheartedly endorsed, and with a brilliant spring performance now completed with his 467 yards passing in Saturday's spring game, Wilson can focus on another passion: golf. Wilson deems golf his way of “healing” away from the football field. He headed to the golf course Sunday after finishing an All-American-like spring with 1,600 yards passing and no interceptions in the Hogs’ scrimmages during the 15-day practice period. In fact, Wilson cites aspects of the golf game that help him improve as a football player. It’s the continual focus that’s required of a good golfer that Wilson wants to improve during these weeks leading up to August drills, when the Hogs reconvene and focus on a potentially huge season.

by Chris Bahn 3/14/2012 12:00 am

Bobby Petrino will walk out of the Broyles Complex and onto the turf at Reynolds Razorback Stadium today when spring practice begins. Just like always. Unlike the last three spring sessions and four fall camps since 2008, however, Petrino will not see Joe Adams, Greg Childs and Jarius Wright when he looks in the direction of the wide receivers. Petrino expects the process to replace the trio to be a challenge. And, well, weird.

Razorback Pro Day 3-And-Out: Mallett Returns To Throw, Joe Adams Can't Get 40 Time Down

by Chris Bahn 3/6/2012 6:33 pm

Running routes and catching passes during pre-draft work can be a bit of a mixed bag for receivers. Drills often require adjusting to a new quarterback and quickly trying to figure out the habits of the guy throwing the passes. Jarius Wright, Joe Adams and Greg Childs experienced that at the NFL Combine last month. There were no such problems for the trio at Arkansas Pro Day. Former Razorback Ryan Mallett, drafted in 2011 by the New England Patriots, was on hand to throw.

by Chris Bahn 2/7/2012 10:27 am

Injury seemed to slow Arkansas wide receiver Greg Childs throughout 2011. He was never really able to show his skill set off in a disappointing senior season. Childs will still get a shot to impress NFL scouts thanks to being included in the official NFL Combine. Players report to Indianapolis Feb. 22-28 and Childs is on the list along with five other players with ties to the state of Arkansas.

Jim Harris: Starting With Hogs' Tyler Wilson Greenwood Well-Represented in Touchdown Club's Awards

by Jim Harris 1/27/2012 3:31 pm

A pattern becomes evident with just a quick glance at the brief but illustrious history of the Little Rock Touchdown Club's annual awards. Something's in the water in Greenwood. Daniel Stegall, a former Bulldog quarterback who went on to try professional baseball, was honored as his classification's (4A) player of the year in 2005. Tyler Wilson, who just completed his junior season in leading Arkansas to an 11-2 season, was this year's Southeastern Conference offensive player of the year as chosen by the club. And Drew Morgan, a junior who led Greenwood to yet another Class 5A state crown, was the 5A player of the year.
