Sinclair Broadcast Group of Hunt Valley, Md. is proposing changes to its $985 million purchase of ABC affiliate stations owned by Allbritton Communications of Arlington, Va., following some objections by the Federal Communications Commission.
Politico, the daily political news website, is reporting that its owner, Allbritton Communications, is exploring a potential sale of its TV stations, which includes ABC affiliate KATV-TV, Channel 7, in Little Rock.
Nexstar Broadcasting Corp. of Irving, Texas, is continuing its run of television station acquisitions with the purchase of three stations in California from two companies, Newport Television and Granite Broadcasting.
By Federal Communications Commission standards, Nexstar Broadcasting of Irving, Texas, doesn’t own Mission Broadcasting. However, recent developments make Mission and Nexstar look a lot like a single entity. And if they were a single entity, that entity would now own four TV stations in Little Rock.
Nexstar Broadcasting has laid off staff at two newly acquired stations in Utah. The two stations were part of a package of stations, including KLRT-TV, Channel 16, in Little Rock, that Nexstar purchased from Newport Television.
