Harps sold $708 million worth of groceries in the fiscal year that ended in August, enough to make it one of the 15 largest private companies based in Arkansas but a rounding factor for Wal-Mart Stores Inc., headquartered 18 miles away in Bentonville.

EEOC Filing Fewer Discrimination Cases In Arkansas

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has filed only two lawsuits in the state this calendar year, continuing a recent trend line. In 2011, the EEOC filed six lawsuits in Arkansas’ federal courts and three the following year. Last year, the EEOC filed only two lawsuits against companies operating in the state.

Brinkley Kroger Keeps Lease Despite Competitor Becoming New Landlord

The 70,400-SF Pinecrest Shopping Center in Brinkley was sold at auction back in May. The buyer in that $975,000 deal was Edprop Development Co. LLC, an affiliate of Edwards Food Giant. The purchase made Steve Edwards, president of the Marianna-based grocery chain, a landlord to a competitor: Kroger.
