AFCU was originally included in the group of banks that bid to lend money to the Little Rock Tech Park. The Arkansas Bankers Association talked the banks into tossing AFCU out of the club — but not until after the bid deadline had passed, so AFCU couldn’t make its own competing bid.

The misinformation employed by the Arkansas Bankers Association to exclude Arkansas Federal Credit Union from the bidding process for the Little Rock Technology Park community development project is reprehensible. The ABA put politics above the potential jobs and economic growth of the community, which speaks volumes about its self-serving agenda.

The project is intended to provide a space for researchers from local universities to turn their research into business. For the past two years, the authority’s board of directors has been fighting an increasingly bumpy battle over the location of the park.
