If you lived in Little Rock in April of 2012, it’s likely you noticed a dramatic transformation take place on your front curb. That month, residents’ 18-gallon recycling bins were replaced with 64-gallon, wheeled carts. This particular change led to a doubling of the city’s recycling participation rates and tripled the city’s recycling tonnage. Today, the bright green carts with the yellow lids dot city curbsides and enable city residents to recycle in much greater volume.
