Josh Jarboe knows nothing is guaranteed this week against Memphis. Arkansas State can’t count on another 49-3 victory in the 57th meeting with its rival from across the Mississippi River. Jarboe can’t be assured a repeat of last year’s seven-catch, 162-yard performance against the Tigers when the two teams meet on Saturday.

Add Memphis to the list of Arkansas State games set for TV or Internet broadcast this fall. The Sun Belt Conference announced Thursday that Memphis at ASU is one of six games involving league teams featured on ESPN3 this season. This is in addition to three Red Wolves games that ESPN networks will feature on TV.

Now everyone can see why Jarnell Stokes was such a hot recruiting item this fall. Arkansas was long thought to be one of the serious players for the 6-foot-8, 250-pound Stokes, along with Memphis, Tennessee, UConn and Kentucky. With his first start coming on national television, Stokes put the points for the Vols.

Malzahn Adds Ingram To Red Wolves' Defensive Staff

Kenny Ingram’s status as an interim assistant at Arkansas State has been upgraded. Ingram, the former Memphis defensive coordinator, has been added to Gus Malzahn’s staff at ASU as defensive line coach. Ingram was serving as a temporary assistant for the Red Wolves during preparation for the GoDaddy.com Bowl.

It’s time for Arkansas State to move on from its victory against Memphis. Coach Hugh Freeze is happy with the Red Wolves’ total performance. They got a win that could pay dividends in recruiting at home and across the river in the Memphis area. They pleased the 29,872 fans on hand and seemingly built momentum by knocking off the Tigers, 47-3. But all that will hardly matter for ASU (1-1) Saturday at No. 13 Virginia Tech (2-0).

Arkansas will not hold a Midnight Madness this year for basketball. However, the Razorbacks will host “Primetime at the Palace,” an event for fans set for 7 p.m. on Oct. 14. A UA release says brief practice sessions and “friendly competitions” will be part of the event, which is free to the public.

Red Wolves Post 611 Yards Of Total Offense, Roll Up 47-3 Victory Against Memphis

Arkansas State (1-1) piled up 611 yards of total offense and limited Memphis to just 169 as the Red Wolves rolled to a 47-3 victory over the Tigers (0-2) Saturday night before 29,872 fans at ASU Stadium. The crowd was the second largest in ASU Stadium history and marked the home debut of first-year head coach Hugh Freeze. The Red Wolves’ 611 yards of total offense was the most since ASU put up 601 yards against Lamar in 1984, and the 169 yards allowed was the fewest surrendered by the ASU defense since giving up 164 against Army in 2006.
