Mike Anderson and the basketball program love to take advantage of a big football weekend to host recruits. Anderson will host a pair of top recruits beginning Sept. 14. Little Rock Hall 5-star power forward Bobby Portis (6-foot-9, 225 pounds) and Huntington (W.Va.) Prep 4-star center Moses Kingsley (6-9, 200) will be on Arkansas' campus and attend the football game in addition to the basketball and academic aspects of the visit.

BJ Young’s NBA tutorial didn’t just include a visit to prospect camps hosted by LeBron James and Deron Williams. New York Knicks guard Ronnie Brewer, a former Razorback and Fayetteville native, spent time with the sophomore guard this summer. Brewer trained at Bud Walton Arena and worked out and played pickup games with current players, including Young. Brewer likes what he saw from Young, who averaged 15.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game as a freshman.

Marshawn Powell has been cleared to play with Arkansas on its exhibition trip to Italy. How much playing time he’ll get is unknown, but the forward will be happy with whatever he gets after missing 31 of 33 games last season with a knee injury. Powell is anxious to get back on the court.
