We’ve all heard that Gus Malzahn is in it for the long haul in Jonesboro. He’s said it himself. He’s not a one-and-done for the Arkansas State Red Wolves, but instead he intends to build the Red Wolves into a program that can compete for a Top 25 ranking annually. We’re glad he says it, and we hope he really means it. The problem is, Gus, if you keep hanging half-a-hundred on the hot-name coaches in the Sun Belt Conference on their home fields week after week, you’re going to have a decision to make. And while money may not always matter, this much money at these kinds of programs will matter.

He gave up two hits and struck out two and has a 0.00 earned run average. It was a solid outing, especially considering he hasn’t pitched in a game since his sophomore season of high school.

Instead of going on to star in the NFL like Tim Tebow, a guy Mitch Mustain actually rated better than coming out of high school, Mustain is waiting for March to arrive so he can suit up for the Arena Football League’s Georgia Force. Mustain is currently working at a friend’s car dealership in Northwest Arkansas and considering joining the Marines. Yet Mustain told USA Today he “wouldn’t change anything.”

Mitch Mustain is getting an opportunity in pro football. The CFL’s Hamilton Ticats have invited Mustain to training camp. He’ll be one of three quarterbacks with the team and a report from Canada describes the former Arkansas/USC player as a “highly touted wild card.”
