by Todd Traub 9/18/2012 10:48 am

Wynne's DeAngelo Williams had arguably the best day out of Arkansas' NFL contingent, but a few unsung offensive linemen got into the act. And what is up with all those guys named Williams anyway?

Bahn: Ryan Mallett Learning With Patriots, Wants 'Multiple' Super Bowls As QB Starter

by Chris Bahn 5/4/2012 12:00 pm

Former Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett made his way around the lower level of Razorback Stadium posing for pictures and signing autographs for nearly 40 minutes during the Red-White game on April 21. It didn’t matter if the fan was a grown man, college girl or a child, Mallett took time for them. Mallett, the record-setting Razorback quarterback now a reserve with the New England Patriots, was particularly generous with the kids and even when he tried to break away from the crowd, he couldn’t. There was always one more person to pose with or sign for and Mallett did his best to oblige. Remembering Mallett working his way around the stadium became a great starting point for an interview we did a few weeks later.

Ryan Mallett Sees NFL Success Ahead For Recently Drafted Razorback Receivers

by Chris Bahn 5/1/2012 10:25 am

New England Patriots quarterback Ryan Mallett spent three years throwing to Joe Adams, Jarius Wright and Greg Childs. Mallett was their college quarterback in 2009 and 2010. He redshirted in 2008, but still had the opportunity to be around the trio, all of whom were drafted in the fourth round of this year’s draft. Having that sort of knowledge of Adams, Wright and Childs, plus a year in the NFL, Mallett told ArkansasSports360.com he believes the three can be successful at the next level.

Arkansas' Jake Bequette is headed to a team that could use him as either a defensive end or linebacker. New England selected Bequette with the 90th overall pick on Saturday. He was the first Razorback taken, going in the third round to the Patriots.

NFL Teams Send 15 Scouts For Arkansas State Red Wolves Pro Day, Demario Davis Impresses

by Chris Bahn 3/28/2012 10:29 am

NFL scouts have found players worth drafting at Arkansas State each of the last five years. Judging from the turnout at the Red Wolves’ pro day, it won’t be a shock to see that streak stretch to a sixth NFL Draft.

Razorback Pro Day 3-And-Out: Mallett Returns To Throw, Joe Adams Can't Get 40 Time Down

by Chris Bahn 3/6/2012 6:33 pm

Running routes and catching passes during pre-draft work can be a bit of a mixed bag for receivers. Drills often require adjusting to a new quarterback and quickly trying to figure out the habits of the guy throwing the passes. Jarius Wright, Joe Adams and Greg Childs experienced that at the NFL Combine last month. There were no such problems for the trio at Arkansas Pro Day. Former Razorback Ryan Mallett, drafted in 2011 by the New England Patriots, was on hand to throw.

A handful of players with local ties will have a shot at winning Super Bowl rings. Locals are on both rosters for the New England Patriots and New York Giants.

Mallett's Approach To Waiting In New England Drawing Praise From Belichick, Brady

by Chris Bahn 12/16/2011 9:54 am

Ryan Mallett is in a familiar position. Mallett, currently a backup in New England, sat out the 2008 season at Arkansas after transferring and spent the year with the view that quarterbacking the scout team was his “game” for the week. It was a great way to stay engaged while waiting his turn for the Razorbacks. Now Mallett is approaching his first season with the Patriots much the same way.

Dolphins' Struggles Leave Some Wondering 'What If' The Team Had Drafted Ryan Mallett

by Chris Bahn 11/3/2011 6:00 am

Miami is struggling and winless through its first seven games. Some of the Dolphins troubles stem from play at the quarterback position. Quarterback play is far from the only area that is lacking, but it’s an area where the team definitely needs improvement. So that leaves folks in Miami second-guessing the Dolphins’ 2011 draft. Specifically, the part where Miami passed twice on former Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett.

Patriots Mallett Shows He Still Has Work To Do, Struggles Against Bucs

by Chris Bahn 8/19/2011 9:55 am

Remember how good Ryan Mallett looked in his NFL exhibiton debut? Not quite the same outing his second time around. Mallett came down to earth a bit against Tampa Bay. He completed 9 of 14 passes for 71 yards and was “off the mark” for much of the night.

Arkansas' Ryan Mallett Solid In NFL Debut For Patriots

by Chris Bahn 8/12/2011 1:06 pm

Ryan Mallett made his NFL debut on Thursday in a preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. How’d the third-string New England Patriots quarterback fare? Let’s allow former All-Pro linebacker and current ESPN analyst Teddy Bruschi to describe Mallett’s performance, which ended with him completing 12 of 19 passes for 164 yards and a touchdown:

Mallett: SEC Football Is Good, But It's No NFL

by Chris Bahn 8/9/2011 10:30 am

There is a perception that SEC players might be better prepared for the NFL than their counterparts in other conferences. Multiple draft picks come from the league each year and the SEC has won five consecutive national titles. Former Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett agrees the SEC is good. The third-round pick by the New England Patriots is just not sure it’s quite the preparation for the NFL that some folks think.

Ryan Mallett Speaks To Dallas Area School On 'Career Day'

by Chris Bahn 5/31/2011 9:00 am

Remember “Career Day” in school? It was great because you didn’t have to listen to the teacher all day, but the speakers never seemed to be quite as exciting as you wanted them to be. Where were the astronauts? The multi-platinum recording artists? The NFL quarterbacks?

Bahn: Patriots Seem Like A Great Spot For Ryan Mallett, But The Situaton Will Be A Test

by Chris Bahn 5/10/2011 1:00 pm

Ryan Mallett enters what is perceived to be a good situation with the Patriots. He gets to learn from Tom Brady, an all-pro destined to become an all-time great. But the opportunity — a word we heard repeatedly after Mallett was drafted — is also a significant challenge. It will be a test.
