Wade Abernathy Inc. of Mount Ida (Montgomery County) was put on notice in March by the Arkansas Department of Parks & Tourism. The agency’s unhappiness with the general contractor’s work and progress on the state park project hasn’t improved.

The Ouachitas’ largest city, Hot Springs, is known for horse racing at Oaklawn Park and for Bathhouse Row, which consists of turn-of-the-century bathhouses. The only city in the nation to encompass a national park, Hot Springs was named for the mineral waters that bubble up from 47 underground springs and maintain a consistent temperature of 143 degrees.
