The vacancy rate for commercial office space in central Arkansas continued its downward slide in the second quarter of this year, according to the Central Arkansas Commercial Data Exchange.

Central Arkansas Industrial Vacancy Rate Drops

The vacancy rate for industrial real estate in central Arkansas fell to 10.7 percent in first-quarter 2014, compared with 11.2 percent in the previous quarter and 12.6 percent in first-quarter 2013. The local rate, however, remains above the national average of 9 percent. Locally, almost 187,000 SF was absorbed in the first quarter of the year.

The vacancy rate for commercial space in central Arkansas fell to 5.3 percent in fourth-quarter 2013 compared with 5.6 percent in the third quarter and 6 percent in the year-earlier quarter. It remains far below the national rate of 10.4 percent.
