Employers Turning to Two-Year Community Colleges for Workforce Training Needs

Workforce development has become a popular issue as industry leaders have said they have a hard time finding enough quality workers to fill their needs. It’s a renewed focus of groups like the Northwest Arkansas Council, which recently announced a three-year plan to strengthen the area’s workforce development and the ties between employers and schools.

Dr. Sandra Massey Takes Over as Chancellor of ASU-Newport

Dr. Sandra Massey was selected to succeed the recently retired chancellor, Larry Williams, after a three-month search that attracted 46 applicants. ASU-Newport serves 2,079 students on campuses in Newport, Marked Tree and Jonesboro.

Massey had served as the vice chancellor for academic affairs at the two-year college. She succeeds Larry Williams, who retired in August, and is the school's second chancellor.
