Luck, RG3 Go 1-2 As Expected, Deal-A-Thon Follows In NFL Draft

by The Associated Press 4/27/2012 7:11 am

Once the NFL draft got past quarterbacks Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III, it was like a day on Wall Street. Everybody wanted to make a trade. The wheeling and dealing started even before the Colts opened the proceedings as expected Thursday night by taking Luck and the Redskins followed by selecting RG3. Behind closed doors, general managers around the league were gabbing away, jockeying to position their teams to land the most coveted player on their draft board.

Jim Harris: College Football Must Go With the 'Plus-One' Championship Game

by Jim Harris 1/11/2012 2:32 pm

The right team is the college football national champion today. But nothing that happened during the course of the season brought us fairly to that conclusion — not in the way college football has crowned its champion over the past 75 years. Alabama didn't play its best game, especially in kicking field goals, and lost at home to LSU on Nov. 5, yet the Crimson Tide was given another shot. Alabama took full advantage with a complete dominance of LSU in the BCS Championship Game in New Orleans.

Saturday Roulette: Rivalry Week; Razorbacks Have A Show To Do In Baton Rouge

by Doc Harper 11/23/2011 4:00 pm

It’s Thanksgiving week and it seems appropriate to give thanks for, among other more meaningful things, an extremely interesting and attractive collection of rivalry games on which we can bet our fantasy dollars. While it may be hard to focus on anything other than the excitement in Baton Rouge, there are several games elsewhere that don’t impact the Razorbacks, but should still be fun to watch. Welcome to a special pre-Friday edition of Saturday Roulette.

Saturday Roulette: How Big A Hole Can The Razorbacks Dig Against Vanderbilt And Still Win?

by Doc Harper 10/28/2011 9:00 am

Vanderbilt week is always the week everyone irrationally convinces themselves the Commodores pose a legitimate threat. You won’t get any argument here. I’ve been afraid of the Vanderbilt game ever since last summer when I found out a good friend of mine scheduled her wedding for the day of the game. I’ve been nervous the immorality of fall weddings would somehow negatively influence the Razorback game, but thanks to a scheduling miracle, kickoff will be early enough for minimal conflict. Hopefully, that stroke of good luck is a sign of positive fortunes with this week’s picks.

Razorbacks Move Up In Pair Of Polls, But Fall In BCS Standings

by Chris Bahn 10/23/2011 8:44 pm

Arkansas avoided a loss at Ole Miss. But the Razorbacks couldn’t avoid slipping in the BCS standings. A 29-24 victory against the Rebels wasn’t enough for Arkansas (6-1, 2-1) to maintain its spot in the BCS. Now the Razorbacks are No. 10, failing to move up in a week two Top 10 teams lost.

Razorbacks Open BCS Rankings At No. 9

by Chris Bahn 10/16/2011 9:43 pm

Arkansas debuted at No. 9 in the first BCS rankings of 2011. No one-loss team is ranked higher than the Razorbacks (5-1, 1-1 SEC), who achieved their best opening BCS ranking. Arkansas opened at No. 12 in 1998 and was No. 23 in last year’s poll.

Surprising K-State Surges To No. 12 In Associated Press Poll, Razorbacks No. 10

by The Associated Press 10/16/2011 9:14 pm

Surprising Kansas State climbed to No. 12 in The Associated Press college football poll Sunday, the Wildcats' best ranking since 2004. Kansas State improved to 6-0 on Saturday night with a 41-34 comeback victory at Texas Tech and jumped five spots in the new rankings. It was the fourth straight week coach Bill Snyder's Wildcats won as underdogs. The last time Kansas State was ranked this highly was the 2004 preseason poll, when the Wildcats were No. 12.
