by Chris Bahn 10/23/2012 9:00 am

Arkansas has money to spend for a quality head coach. Jeff Long said as much during a recent chat with fans at the Little Rock Touchdown Club. How much money would the program need to invest to get its newest coach among the Top 10 highest paid? Let’s look below:

Saturday Roulette: Texas State Fair Edition; Can Razorbacks Extend Streak To … Two?

by Doc Harper 10/12/2012 9:30 am

Good news! It’s Red River Rivaly Shootout week, which, as mentioned last year, is my favorite non-SEC game of the year. I love the look of the red and orange side by side, two storied programs clashing, and the spectacle of the Texas State Fair surrounding the Cotton Bowl. The fair is known far and wide for its record of innovation and progress in the fried food arts. Like last year, Saturday Roulette will honor that hard work by wagering some of the new fried food debuting at the fair this year in lieu of betting our usual fantasy dollars. We had another good week last week, going 5-3. The season total is 26-21. We’re rolling! Here are this week’s winners:

Saturday Roulette: It’s Okay To Be More Interested In Other Games This Week, Razorback Fans

by Doc Harper 10/5/2012 9:30 am

Remember the scene in The Godfather when Michael tells Vito, “We’ll get there, Pop. We’ll get there.” Only they never really get there because [SPOILER ALERT] Vito dies right after that and Michael only sinks deeper into the Mafia culture. Razorback football reminds me of that scene. Unless “getting there” refers to basketball season, in which case, count us in.

Saturday Roulette: A Razorbacks Loss Still Hurts When Your Fantasy Bets Are Winners

by Doc Harper 9/14/2012 8:58 am

Recovering from ULM 34, Arkansas 31 (OT) just in time for this week's fantasy bets. Look for Alabama to cover the spread, although Doc wouldn't complain if Arkansas proved him wrong.

20 Moments From The Razorbacks' First 20 SEC Years: Matt Jones Magic Fails Vs. Texas

by Chris Bahn 8/27/2012 1:00 pm

This football season marks the 21st for the Razorbacks as members of the SEC. Having completed two decades in the league it seemed worth reflecting on how far the program has come. Which victories over the last 20 years were the sweetest? Were there losses that hurt more than others? What coaching decisions still have folks scratching their heads? ArkansasSports360.com assembled a panel aimed at answering these questions. We have our list and we'd love to hear yours. No. 5 on our moments you would love to forget: Matt Jones Loses Magic Against Texas ...

SEC Media Days: Hugh Freeze Wavers On Comparing Arkansas State, Ole Miss Talent Levels

by Jim Harris 7/19/2012 12:40 pm

The inevitable question arose for new Ole Miss Coach Hugh Freeze on Thursday at SEC Media Days: How would you compare the talent you had at Arkansas State last year to the talent at Ole Miss this year? Freeze did a little dance around the question. "I don't know if that's a fair judge necessarily, because the year we had last year at Arkansas State was a remarkable ride," Freeze said.

Jim Harris: Unlike '79, Razorbacks Don't Quite Have CWS Title In Grasp Yet

by Jim Harris 6/20/2012 1:05 pm

Arkansas has never come quite as close to an NCAA baseball championship as the Razorbacks did in 1979. The biggest reason for that is, until late Monday night in Omaha, Neb., the Hogs had only started 2-0 in the College World Series in 1979. Obviously, the deeper a team can go in a double-elimination baseball tournament, the better the chances of taking home the title.

SEC Notebook: Hogs May Be Giving Way To Aggies As LSU's Football Finale

by Jim Harris 5/30/2012 4:40 pm

Texas A&M wants to replace its annual Thanksgiving weekend game against Texas with new Southeastern Conference rival LSU. The SEC appears to want that marquee Thanksgiving weekend matchup as well. All that was lacking was LSU's OK, and it was believed among Tiger insiders that LSU preferred to keep Arkansas as its regular season finale. Now, however, LSU athletic director Joe Alleva has spoken out and seems to prefer that the Tigers now play A&M in the date where LSU and Arkansas have met for 20 years.

Petrino, Razorbacks Get (Unfavorable) Mention In Detailed Report On DGB Recruitment

by Chris Bahn 2/2/2012 9:28 am

FoxSports.com has some unflattering details about Arkansas pertaining to the recruitment of Dorial Green-Beckham. If there is one positive to the situation it’s this: People are paying attention to Arkansas and see its football as an increasingly relevant brand and/or threat. Relevance brings its share of headaches.

Arkansas Says 'No Violation' In Recruitment Of Green-Beckham, But Petrino Passes On Visit

by Chris Bahn 1/25/2012 8:47 pm

Arkansas Coach Bobby Petrino will not make an in-home visit with Dorial Green-Beckham, the nation’s top recruit, but only as a “proactive step” to ensure no violation has occurred in his recruitment. CBS Sports reported on Wednesday that Petrino and Green-Beckham “bumped into each other earlier this month in San Antonio, Texas, possibly creating an NCAA recruiting issue.”

by Chris Bahn 12/28/2011 11:06 am

Hugh Freeze did wonders at Arkansas State this year, helping them to a 10 wins and an outright Sun Belt Conference title. For his efforts he was rewarded with the Ole Miss gig and a $1.2 million salary. Let's take a closer look at that "reward." Check out the schedule Freeze gets his first season in Oxford, Miss.:

Saturday Roulette: Rivalry Week; Razorbacks Have A Show To Do In Baton Rouge

by Doc Harper 11/23/2011 4:00 pm

It’s Thanksgiving week and it seems appropriate to give thanks for, among other more meaningful things, an extremely interesting and attractive collection of rivalry games on which we can bet our fantasy dollars. While it may be hard to focus on anything other than the excitement in Baton Rouge, there are several games elsewhere that don’t impact the Razorbacks, but should still be fun to watch. Welcome to a special pre-Friday edition of Saturday Roulette.

Saturday Roulette: Chicken On A Stick, Freeze, Razorbacks Improve Bad Weekend Of Games

by Doc Harper 11/18/2011 9:00 am

There’s no way around it. There just isn’t a great slate of games this weekend, particularly in the SEC. Two of the four conference games feature 30-plus point spreads, and the other two feature three teams struggling to become bowl eligible. If only there was a way to make the games more interesting. Thankfully, Saturday Roulette is here to help! Oh, you thought we meant fantasy betting? No, no. Gather ‘round. It’s time to tell you all a story.
