Knight Transportation Sheds More USA Truck Shares

Knight tried to take over USA Truck two years ago by buying 1.3 million shares at less than $6 per share. The take-over bid failed but the interest generated helped spur USA Truck’s share price over $20.

USA Truck Upgrading Its Website

2014 was the trucking company’s first profitable year in six years, and its website is even older. Paul Silverlieb, who handles marketing for USA Truck, said the website hasn’t been updated in nine years, and a third-party agency (he wouldn’t say who) has been hired to design a new one.

Listen to any Arkansas trucking company executive — with the possible exception of unionized ABF Freight — and you will hear lamentations about driver shortages in the industry. Short of cultural change to repopularize the job, executives know they have to pay more to attract drivers and work harder to keep them. The trend doesn’t look like it is going to get any better anytime soon.
