North Little Rock solar developer Seal Solar is nearing completion of a solar array designed to save a Little Rock fitness club franchise millions of dollars in energy costs over 30 years, the companies announced Wednesday.
10 Fitness, which has 13 health club sites around Arkansas, is Seal’s partner in a 1.3-megawatt solar array near Bald Knob, which company officials said is expected to save $6 million over the life of the project. The array is expected to be finished within two weeks.
“Seal approached us about doing a solar array a couple of years ago,” 10 Fitness CEO Eric Buckner said in a news release. “They explained how it worked and we ran the numbers. It was a no-brainer.”
Seal Solar commercial sales manager Caleb Snuggs said the project “is important because it gives 10 Fitness control over what was once a variable monthly line item on cash flow.”
The array will generate enough solar power to cover more than 90% of 10 Fitness’ monthly electric bills for eight of the company’s facilities, the business said. Buckner said Seal was helpful and informative throughout the process. “I’m so glad we partnered with them.”
Since its founding in 2015, Seal has completed more than 850 projects across the state, company officials said.
